While outside the immediate 2026 window, the 2027 INSAR Annual Meeting in Cape Town is a significant milestone as it represents the first time this global scientific summit will be held on the African continent. This move underscores the society’s commitment to “Globalizing Autism Research” and ensuring that scientific progress is inclusive of diverse populations. The Cape Town meeting will focus on the unique challenges and opportunities of conducting autism research in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). By bringing the world’s leading autism scientists to South Africa, INSAR aims to stimulate regional research progress and foster new international collaborations that address the causes and treatments of autism from a truly global perspective.
